RWE Trading
RWE Trading GmbH was established in 2000 and is the managing company for all energy trading activities within the RWE Group.
RWE Trading is one of the most important European energy commodity traders. The company operates throughout Europe and acts as a hub for all tradable
commodities in physical form, such as power, gas, coal and oil, and for trade in energy derivatives geared towards hedging price risks. RWE Trading
is active on 12 international exchanges and the company currently forms the backbone of the European OTC power and gas trading.
It is a success story built on the skill and dedication of an entire workforce pulling together as a team. Success in the dynamic and complex energy
trading business would not be possible without professionals from a wide variety of disciplines including Information Systems. From risk management
procedures to the impact of weather conditions on energy supply and demand, nothing is left to chance.
With a workforce of around 500 employees, RWE Trading operates trading floors in Essen, Swindon (UK) and London as well as representative and agency
offices across Europe.
From April 1, 2008, two companies RWE Trading GmbH and RWE Gas Midstream GmbH will be merged into RWE Supply & Trading. The new company will be in
charge of managing all of RWE's international energy procurement activities and wholesale energy trading. It will serve as the European hub for all
tradable commodities as well as optimising the entire gas portfolio of the RWE Group, from short- to long-term procurement and delivery
responsibilities. RWE Supply & Trading will have circa 700 employees located in its headquarters in Essen (Germany) and its offices in Swindon (UK),
London (UK) and Prague (CZ) as well as representative and branch offices throughout Europe.
